The development of short food supply chains is often presented as a promising alternative to the agro-industrial model. But what do we really know about the transformations in agricultural work that this implies?
The interdisciplinary review, in this article, highlights the contributions, limitations and blind spots of existing research on the subject.
In particular, The authors look at:
- Working conditions and forms of organisation associated with short circuits
- Economic performance and work remuneration
- The subjective and relational dimensions of the job in these contexts.
This publication is accompanied by a research agenda to strengthen the integration of labour issues into policies to support short distribution channels.
